Synopsis
Detroit in 1938 was a fascinating place. The Italian mob had solidified its control of the city from the Jewish Purple Gang. Father Coughlin railed on the radio against communists and the “money lenders.” Hank Greenberg chased Babe Ruth’s home run record and Joe Louis sought revenge in the boxing ring against Max Schmeling. Our lead character is a Jewish teen, desperate for money to get a family member out of Nazi Germany, who stumbles on a cache of stolen money. A rogue Italian mobster (who has claims on the loot) catches him and, impressed with the boy's bravado, invites him to help with his renegade gambling operation. Both know death is certain if they are caught by the mob boss.
