How ironic Charles Solomon would be murdered in the Hub just a few months before repeal.
During his reign he truly was the "King" of Boston, yet so many details of his life are, as yet, unknown. My research has just begun into the life of the man who is widely acknowledged as one of the founding fathers of a national "syndicate" - the modern mafia - which he never lived to see.
To write of the life of "King" Solomon I have unearthed hundreds of documents from the court system, both here in Boston and in Southern California, where Charles had allegedly been embroiled in the rackets. To my great surprise and delight I also found a living relative who, as a child, remembered Charles and his wife, Bertha, as well as another relative - genealogist Lisa Lisson - who wrote about her own discovery of her connection to Charles in her blog, "I Accidentally Found a Notorious Gangster in the Family Tree."

I will add tidbits of interest here...

Even the "King" had to start somewhere...

Perhaps others were not newsworthy

By 1917 he was a "principal" in a robbery
Research is in progress and I will post updates and finds
